Chovwe face Kisasa as Secondary School semi-finals take shape

The FQM Trident Interschools Independence Tournament Secondary School category reaches the semi-final stage on Saturday, with defending champions Chovwe among the four schools still in contention for the title.

Chovwe will face Kisasa in one of the semi-finals in Musele, while Kankonzhi take on Luanvundu in the other.

The defending champions booked their place in the last four with a 1–0 victory over Jiwundu, with Jubest Sakayongo scoring the decisive goal.

Chovwe will now face Kisasa, who reached the semi-finals after edging Mukonzhi 1–0 after extra time. Bestone Muloya converted the decisive penalty to send Kisasa through.

The other semi-final brings together Kankonzhi and Luanvundu.

Kankonzhi produced one of the most convincing results of the knockout stage, defeating tournament debutants Kalumbila 6–0 to secure their semi-final place.

Luanvundu, meanwhile, advanced with a 1–0 victory over Chitungu, with John Katana scoring the only goal.

Saturday's semi-finals promise another significant stage in the competition as the remaining four schools battle for the opportunity to contest the 17 October final.

The tournament features 37 schools and is being played under the theme “A Kick for Safety.”
