The FQM Trident Interschools Independence Tournament continued on Saturday morning in Jiwundu, with Group Five producing five fixtures as the competition moved another step closer to the knockout stages.

 

In the opening round, Kasanzhi secured a 2–0 win over Shalamba, with both goals coming through own goals by Bryan Mushimbwa and Bricham Munene.

 

Mukonzhi also made a winning start, edging Wanyinwa 2–1 in a closely fought encounter.

 

In the other opening-round fixture, Nyansowe were awarded a 3–0 victory over Luanvundu after their opponents were disqualified for fielding ineligible players.

 

Kasanzhi continued their impressive run in the final round with a narrow 1–0 win over Wanyinwa, with Daniel Kadata scoring the decisive goal.

 

Mukonzhi then completed their day with a second 2–1 victory, this time against Nyansowe, with Pethias Motoka scoring Nyansowe's consolation.

 

The tournament now moves to Kisasa on Sunday, where the Secondary School category will take centre stage.

 

Jiwundu will face Musele, while Kalumbila will take on Kankonzhi as the competition continues.

 

The 2026 edition features 37 schools and is being played under the theme “A Kick for Safety”, with the grand finals scheduled for 17 October.
