Kankonzhi secured their place in the semi-finals of the FQM Trident Interschools Independence Tournament after a resounding 6–0 win over tournament debutants Kalumbila in Kisasa on Sunday.

In the second fixture, Jiwundu also made a winning start with a 2–0 victory over Musele.

Emmanuel Mukanda opened the scoring before Felix Yonga added a second to secure the win for Jiwundu.

The tournament continues on Friday when Kisasa take on Mukonzhi in a winner-takes-all contest set for Musele.

Jiwundu will then face defending champions Chovwe in Musele on Sunday for a place in the semi-finals, with Chovwe having received a bye into the round.

Sunday's other fixture will see Luanvundu take on Chitungu in Musele.

The 2026 edition features 37 schools and is being played under the theme “A Kick for Safety”, with the grand finals scheduled for 17 October.
