Kisasa end Chovwe’s title defence as Kankonzhi set up final

Kisasa and Kankonzhi will contest the Secondary School final of the FQM Trident Interschools Independence Tournament after winning their semi-final matches in Jiwundu on Saturday.

Kisasa ended defending champions Chovwe’s title defence with a narrow 1–0 victory in a tightly contested encounter.

Sirgive Kamwengo scored the decisive goal to send Kisasa through to the final and end Chovwe’s bid to retain the title.

In the other semi-final, Kankonzhi secured their place in the final after overcoming Luanvundu 4–2 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time.

Kankonzhi held their nerve from the spot to seal their progression and set up a final meeting with Kisasa.

The two teams will now meet on Saturday, 17 October, at Sentinel Ground, with the Secondary School title at stake.

For Kisasa, the victory over the defending champions marks a significant step towards the title, while Kankonzhi will be looking to complete their campaign with victory in the final.

The 2026 FQM Trident Interschools Independence Tournament features 37 schools and is being played under the theme “A Kick for Safety.”
