Mutuuba Primary and Kisasa Primary secured places in the next round of the FQM Trident Interschools Independence Tournament after an eventful day of Group Four action in Musele on Friday.
Mutuuba made a strong start to their campaign with a convincing 3–0 win over Nkisu Primary.
Kennedy Lutupa opened the scoring before Gabriel Lusumba and Timothy Nduwa added further goals to complete the win.
Lutupa was named Player of the Match after his contribution to Mutuuba's convincing victory.
Kisasa, meanwhile, had to rely on penalties to overcome Jiwundu after the two sides played out a goalless draw in regulation time and extra time.
Kisasa eventually prevailed 6–5 in the shootout to book their place in the next round.
The tournament continues on Saturday with Group Five action in Jiwundu, where Munkonzhi will face Wanyinwa, Kasanzhi will take on Shalamba and Nyasowe will meet Luanvundu.
Sunday will see the Secondary School category begin their action in Kisasa, with Jiwundu facing Musele before Kalumbila Secondary take on Kankonzhi.
The 2026 edition features 37 schools and is being played under the theme “A Kick for Safety”, with the finals scheduled for 17 October.
