The Primary School category of the FQM Trident Interschools Independence Tournament enters the quarter-final stage on Wednesday, with six schools set to battle for places in the semi-finals at Jiwundu.
Defending champions Chitungu face Mukonzhi in the opening quarter-final, with the holders looking to maintain their pursuit of another title.
Chitungu reached this stage after a 2–0 victory over Kashikuwe, with Griven Kasongo scoring both goals.
Mukonzhi, meanwhile, advanced after edging Mbole 5–2 on penalties following a 1–1 draw.
The second quarter-final pits Kisasa against Kanzala. Kisasa progressed after overcoming Chovwe 5–4 on penalties following a 1–1 draw, while Kanzala booked their place in the last eight by edging Kasanzhi 6–5 on penalties after the same scoreline in regulation time.
The final quarter-final sees Musele take on Kasanzhi.
Musele secured their place in the last eight with a 1–0 victory over Mutuuba, with Baldwin Sosala scoring the decisive goal.
Kasanzhi advanced despite their penalty shootout defeat to Kanzala, with the quarter-final line-up now giving them another opportunity to continue their campaign.
All three quarter-finals will be played in Jiwundu on Wednesday, 7 October, with the winners and the best loser advancing to the semi-finals.
The 2026 tournament features 37 schools and is being played under the theme “A Kick for Safety.”
